Startup Consulting
My journey as an entrepreneur began in 2012 while I was pursuing my legal studies in South Africa. Seeking a side hustle, I founded Tembo’s Domestic Service, a venture designed to support single mothers. We assisted with cleaning, child collection, and babysitting. I personally vetted every employee, ensuring thorough background checks and police clearances before training them in childcare and home maintenance.
The business was successful and fully booked, generating such promising income that I considered pausing my studies. However, the experience revealed a deeper calling. Witnessing the challenges faced by these mothers steered me toward specializing in human rights, constitutional, and humanitarian law. I completed my law degree, leaving the business in the capable hands of my best employee.
This foundational experience led me into public law and a career assisting over a dozen social organizations. I have served as a director and chair on boards in South Africa, Malawi, and Germany. I learned that while you can go far alone, the right guidance can launch your idea to the next level.
While profitability is essential, at Lovestory we operate on a principle: we only consult for businesses and non-profits that have corporate social responsibility and community development in their DNA. Coffee Exporting Between Africa and Europe | Coffee Farming
In 2018, we established Malawi’s first specialty coffee store, Lovestory.
Our core mission was—and remains—using coffee as a tool for rural community development in Livingstonia, Malawi. Our initial profits funded a new school classroom, replacing a makeshift wooden structure. By 2021, we expanded by purchasing our own coffee farm.

Today, we have cultivated strong relationships with international roasters who cherish African coffees. We work directly with farmers in Malawi, exporting premium green or roasted beans directly to Europe. Our coffee is currently available in Germany and Belgium, and we can facilitate distribution throughout the EU.

I vividly recall my first flight to Europe in late 2014: visa in hand, itinerary set, a mix of excitement and apprehension. Landing under Frankfurt’s grey skies, I felt confident—I was a newly graduated lawyer, and I had every bureaucratic detail covered. Yet, I quickly learned that landing on a new continent is more than an adventure; it’s a revelation of entirely different worlds, communities, and complex systems.
That confidence was tested upon arrival. An immigration officer questioned my travel plans, leading to a tense, prejudiced interaction. I was detained and presented with German documents to sign. Asserting my rights as a lawyer, I insisted on documentation in a language I understood. The situation was resolved, but the lesson was indelible.
